Week of Self-Care in Review (My Self-Care Last Week)
Labels: Blog , Other , self-careWednesday, June 9, 2021
Every Wednesday, I am going to post about my self-care from the week before. I am doing this for two reasons. 1) I need to get back into writing for the blog. 2) Hopefully give you ideas on what you can do for self-care. The last I share is not all-inclusive but is made up of the self-care acts I noticed I was drawn to over the week and did multiple times. I will cover all 8 types of self-care (if you need a refresher read here).
Emotional Self-Care
Emotional Self-Awareness
Most of my emotional awareness has been around what are childhood traumas triggering me as an adult. I have been triggered a bit more this year, and it is time to take some childhood traumas. I may go into more details later about this.
Spiritual Self-Care
Affirmation Journal
I have loved this, I do not do it every day (I would like to get to that point), but it is the first time I have enjoyed journaling. I have been switching between two affirmation decks. It was important to me to own a deck made by someone black. With that said, I have loved both decks and alternate between them.
Personal Self-Care
Boundaries
I cannot stress the boundaries enough. Saying no to things that don't align with your values is so important. Now I am not saying you don't try new things, but if you know, something goes against what you value, say no without explanation.
Physical Self-Care
Intermittent Fasting.
This happened a lot less on the girl's trip, but I was fasting for most of the week. Fasting has been a game-changer for my eating disorder. Having a set time to eat as allowed me to take in more calories. I have been feeling less tired, bloated, and nauseous.
Space Self-Care
Cleaning
I have been tackling small cleaning jobs around the house. I am sorting out items to get rid of, but I am taking things slow. I tend to overdo it with the cleaning and make myself feel overwhelmed. I am working on not doing that.
Social Self-Care
Girls Trip
I think the last girls' trip I took was in 2017, so a while ago. I had so much fun. It was nice to getaway.
Work Self-Care
Healthy work environment
A healthy work environment is a big deal. How you feel at work spills over, and due to the heat at my job, I had gotten sick for the second time in a month. I ended up getting a test for COVID for a second time and the flu, both of which were negative. What I found out is I was overheating at work, and it was triggering my asthma. Who knew?
Financial Self-Care
Spending wisely?
This comes with a question mark because I am not sure if it has been wisely. I have been trying to make investments that I feel will benefit me and my business long term.
What has been your go-to self-care this week or last? Did anything surprise you?
